Dissertation Editing
Full dissertation edit: $4.00/page
A full edit includes grammar, clarity, syntax, word choice, organization, and adherence to any program requirements you provide me. I make changes when appropriate, for example, for spelling, agreement, and grammatical issues. For issues related to content, I ask questions and provide thoughtful feedback using the comments feature in Word. I do provide guidance and suggestions on how to resolve any gaps in content, but I allow you to perform any substantial rewriting in the interest of academic integrity.

My edits also include APA or Turabian style. I check formatting, citations/footnotes, and references for adherence to APA or Turabian. Formatting includes, but is not limited to, tables, lists, spacing, and headers. I match in-text citations/footnotes with reference list/bibliography items to ensure consistency. Should discrepancies be found, I will send you a list of in-text citations that must be added to the reference list and/or a list of references which must be deleted or cited in the text.

If you do not already have one, I can also create a table of contents using the References tools in Word. This will allow you to update your table of contents with a few clicks. I do not adjust figures such as graphs, but I will leave comments on any issues with figures. Personal and identifying information will be redacted from appendices and figures as necessary.

Style-only dissertation edit: $2.00/page
A style-only edit includes formatting and all issues pertaining to APA or Turabian style. Formatting includes headers, spacing, layout, use of block quotations, and the creation of a table of contents, if needed. A style-only edit also includes everything pertaining to citations (in-text citations/footnotes and the references list/bibliography). All citations will be edited for adherence to APA or Turabian. Your in-text citations/footnotes are matched to your references/bibliography to ensure consistency. Should discrepancies be found, I will send you a list of in-text citations that must be added to the reference list and/or a list of references which must be deleted or cited in the text. You can choose to have your appendices (if any) included or not included in the edit.

A style-only edit does not include the traditional elements of a copy edit such as grammar, word choice, punctuation, and clarity.

Book Editing
$30.00/hour
The exact services provided in a book edit depend on your needs. For most authors, the first round or several rounds of edits on a book manuscript are developmental edits. Developmental editing deals with the structure and organization of your manuscript as well as the focus. Less relevant text is cut, paragraphs are re-ordered, and underdeveloped themes are strengthened.
After developmental editing is completed, copy editing is the next phase. Whereas developmental editing focuses on larger portions of text and ideas, copy editing addresses sentence-level issues. A copy edit includes grammar, clarity, syntax, punctuation, word choice, and citations. Additionally, during copy editing, your manuscript is aligned with the applicable style, typically Chicago.
The final stage of a book edit is proofreading. If you are working with a publisher, it is likely that the publisher will take care of proofreading for your manuscript. If you are self-publishing, however, proofreading can be completed by Grace Editing. During proofreading, I comb the manuscript for minor errors like typos and extra spacing. I also complete any typesetting required by the self-publishing platform. Whether your manuscript needs all three levels of editing or just one, Grace Editing can assist.

Writing & Faculty Support
$30.00/hour
Writing support is a customizable service for students, faculty, and others. For students, writing support is instructive in nature. Services are offered to high school through postgraduate students. The goal of writing support is to strengthen your writing skills and thereby prepare you for academic success. I identify errors or weaknesses in your writing and provide strategies for improvement. Typically, we use papers that are written for your courses and I guide you through the revision process until you have a paper you are proud of. We want your ideas and research to shine free from distraction.

For faculty, I can save you considerable time by reviewing papers for formatting, APA or Turabian style, and grammar. When I handle these details, you are free to focus on assessing content and research. A basic scrub of a paper for style and formatting can be done in as little as five to ten minutes, keeping costs down for you while maximizing your efficiency. My goal, like yours, is to teach students to write well, so feedback can be provided to help students correct their mistakes in the future.
